New TV Channel Launched to Spread Chinese Culture

Sun Television Cybernetworks Holdings Limited Monday kicked off its launch of the Asia Pacific region's first satellite channel with the theme of history and biography.

The new satellite TV channel, Sun Satellite Television, will transmit its top quality programs throughout the Asia Pacific region via satellite AsiaSat 3s, and it is estimated that it can draw more than 100 million audience from China's mainland alone, according to the company's chairperson Yang Lan.

Being the first Chinese-language channel with the theme of history and biography in the region, its principal mission is to spread the Chinese culture apart from endeavoring to achieve good results in its business operation, Yang said at the opening ceremony.

Tung Chee Hwa, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region officiated the opening ceremony.
