Another Three Xiamen Officials Punished

Three officials in Xiamen, one of China's five special economic zones, have been punished in suspicion of receiving bribes.

Huang Herong, a deputy to the People's Congress of Xiamen, was due to face coercive measures from the city's procuratorate under the authorization of the Standing Committee of the 11th People's Congress of Xiamen -- the local legislature.

Huang was the inspector of Xiamen's Traffic Committee and the director of the city's Harbor Bureau. Between 1992 and 2000, he had received large amount of bribes taking advantage of his position and power.

Meanwhile, the Standing Committee also dismissed Chen Jiachang, director of Xiamen's State Assets Management Bureau, from his post because the bureau under his leadership had broken financial principles.

The local legislature also allowed Yan Caiyi, procurator-general of the Procuratorate of Xiamen's Kaiyuan District to resign from his post. Yan had been investigated by the procuratorate for violating the law.
