Thai PM: Thailand to Stand with Peace Lovers Worldwide
The Thai people and government will stand by the side of Hiroshima citizens and peace lovers worldwide to promote and create lasting peace and harmony among humanity, the Thai News Agency (TNA) Sunday quoted Thai Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai as saying.
In his message on Saturday to Mayor of Hiroshima to commemorate the devastating nuclear bombardment of Hiroshima by the Allied Group on August 6, 1945, days before the end of the World War II, Chuan said that the August 6 incident is significant not only for Hiroshima people, but also for all the humanity.
Thailand had seen the importance of continued attempts to promote a common stance on peace in the international community, and was determined to continue to adhere to its position on supporting for confidence building up and creation of understanding in the Southeast Asian region, which will lead to sustainable peace and stability in the 21st century, based on lessons from the incident in Hiroshima, he said.
