Hong Kong, Japan Triumph in Singapore Triathlon Championship

Japanese triathlete Motofumi Kojima timed one hour, 53 minutes and four seconds Saturday to take first place in the men's division in Singapore's Pinnz International Triathlon Championship.

The title of the women's division went to Christine Bailey, a British national representing China's Hong Kong, who finished in two hours, 11 minutes and 58 seconds.

Athletes from 14 countries and regions took part in the triathlon, which was composed of a 1.5-kilometer swim, 40- kilometer bicycle ride and 10-kilometer run.

Mark Bailey, also racing for Hong Kong, took second place in the men's division with a time of one hour, 57 minutes and 26 seconds.

Claire Amurray of Hong Kong came in second in the women's division with two hours, 14 minutes and 41 seconds.

Singapore's Ernest Ng ended up third in the men's division with two hours, one minute and nine seconds. His compatriot, Dawn Chia, came in third in the women's race with two hours, 16 minutes and 15 seconds.
