Boeing 767-400ER Debuts in Shanghai

The Boeing's newest model 767-400ER, which is on its round-the-world tour, arrived Saturday in Shanghai after a show in Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

The plane arrived at the Hongqiao International Airport and began a live flight demonstration. The plane will later fly to Beijing and Haikou, capital city of south China's Hainan Province in the next few days.

The aircraft can accommodate 245 to 375 passengers and fly a distance of 10,460 km. The world tour will take the plane to 17 cities and four continents.

Since 1972, China has spent 14.9 billion US dollars on 341 Boeing planes.

The country is expected to purchase another 1,790 planes in the next two decades, which are expected to cost some 137 billion US dollars.
