Northeast China City to Host International Friendship Month
The International Friendship Month is scheduled to open in this capital city of Liaoning Province in northeast China from August 15 to the end of September.
It is the third time that Shenyang has hosted the event.
Officials of foreign governments and representatives of non-governmental organizations will take part in the month-long activity, according to the organizer.
The Fourth Session of the South Asian Science Park, the First International Craftsmanship Conference, the 2000 Shenyang International Economic and Trade Conference and many other activities will be held during the month.
Other programs include painting and calligraphy shows, chess and card activities.
The International Friendship Month was firstly initiated in 1998. More than 6,000 celebrities, government officials and businessmen attended last year's activities.
The festival is designed to promote exchanges between Shenyang and the world, said Mu Suixin, the mayor of Shenyang.
