Ph.D. Holders to Join Think Tank in China's NW Province

Qinghai Province in northwest China granted letters of appointment Friday to 33 Ph.D. holders from other parts of the country to become science advisors of the province.

The 33 people are members of the "Trip to West China" team, an activity attended by 100 doctorate holders from major Chinese universities.

During their stay in Qinghai, lectures on hi-tech development were delivered and negotiations with local companies on technological cooperative projects were held. They also studied the ecological of Qinghai Lake, the home to most species of birds in China.

During the visit, they signed 30 cooperative agreements with 27 local enterprises.

Ma Peihua, a provincial government official hopes more intellectuals will come to Qinghai and China's western regions as a whole.
