China Cracks Down on Foreign Trademark Infringement

The Chinese government have cracked down on the recent increase in foreign trademark infringements, which affect foreign companies from investing in China.

According to statistics released today by the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, in the first half of this year, the SAIC investigated a total of 665 foreign trademark infringement cases, up 16.3% from the same period last year.

Of the 665 cases, 610 cases involved counterfeit trademarks, up 12% from the same period last year.

A spokesman from the State Administration for Industry and Commerce said that to insure that the interests of foreign businesses who invest in China are not damaged, the local SAIC departments increased surveillance over the circulation, printing, marketing and use of trademarks.
