Individual Housing, Car buying Booming in Dalian

Individual consumption on housing and cars in this port city of Dalian in northeast China's Liaoning Province has vigorously increased in the first half of the year.

The city sold houses with a total floor space of 406,000 square meters to individual buyers, soaring 49.3 percent from a year earlier. It amounted to 77.6 percent of the city's total housing sales space, up 7.9 percent over the same period of last year, local statistical bureau showed.

Sales of individual houses reached some 1.03 billion yuan (over 124 million US dollars), accounting for 75.7 percent of the city's total sales value during the first half of the year.

Local analysts attributed the booming individual houses sales to the government's sound reform on its traditional housing system, to the increasing loans for home buyers and the rising income of people along with the improvement of marketing services.

The purchase of cars by individuals also claimed over 30 percent of the city's total car sales in the first six months, which is 29.3 percent higher than the same period last year.
