COC Issues Announcement on Chen Yueling's Participation in the Sydney Olympics

The Chinese Olympic Committee (COC) has issued a formal announcment to the American Olympic Committee on whether Chen Yueling should represent the US to participate in the Sydney Olympics or not.

The announcement that Chen Yueling, China's first gold medalist in track and field, has great repercussions. Her transfer should follow the Olympics charter strictly and hopefully, and China hopes that the American Olympic Committee will abide by the International Olympic Committee rules. The American Olympic Committee received this announcement on Wednesday, their time, but have not issued a response yet.

The American Olympic Committee wrote to the Chinese Olympic Committee, hoping that China would agree to let Chen Yueling represent America in the Sydney Olympics. According to the International Olympic Committee rules, only an athlete who has been a naturalized citizen for more than three years is qualified to represent their country in the Olympics.
