China Has Made Remarkable Progress in Anti-doping, Says Yuan

The Chinese top sports official said on Friday that China has made remarkable achievements in its anti-drug campaign over the past decade.

Yuan, who heads the Chinese Olympic Committee, the State General Administration of Sports and China's Anti-doping Committee, recalled the development of China's anti-doping efforts since the 1980s, saying that the anti-doping cause started from nil to have made lots of remarkable achievements.

He noted that China had set up anti-doping committee, formulated laws and regulations, and established drug-testing institutions. He continued that China has been always adopting the "Three Stricts" policy, namely, strict on prohibiting the use of drugs, strict on doping tests and strict on punishing the offenders.

Yuan said China has increased the number of drug tests in recent years, with the percentage of the positive results dropping from 1.6 in the early 19909s to today's 0.6 percent.
