Well-known Bands to Perform at China Centennial Altar

A group of world well-known bands are to be performing at downtown Beijing later this month, playing and singing for the World University Games to be held here next year.

Beijing residents, especially the young, will have a chance to see with their own eyes the hot bands, including the "Baby v.o.x." from the Republic of Korea, "The Spirit Valentine" from the United States and "Charmed" from Norway.

Famous local bands, such as the "Flowers" and Zang Tianshuo, will also join in the August 27 festivities at the China Centennial Altar, a landmark building completed last year to greet the new millennium.

The performances are part of the activities in the running up to the World University Games, the first in the new century, according to a report in the Guangming Daily newspaper.
