Progress Achieved in West China's Water Exploration
Breakthroughs have been recorded in explorations for water in China's arid western regions, which will be able to fetch from underground one billion more cubic meters of water each year.
More than 50 sites of water and sections with rich underground water have been located by the country's water explorers in the regions, according to our Paper.
The huge amount of the newly explored underground water is estimated to be that contained in some 10 large-scale reservoirs. It will help to alleviate the acute water shortage problems in the under-developed western regions.
The breakthroughs were partly attributed to the adoption of new exploration technologies, such as remote sensing and nuclear magnetic resonance.
