China's textile industry has earned more than 7.9 billion yuan in the first five months this year, more than quadrupling that during the same period last year, Friday's Economic Daily reports.
This also made textile exports of the country at a favorable situation this year, said Wang Lie, a senior official with the State Administration of Textile Industry.
China's entry into the WTO will further expand the overseas market for textile products and bring new opportunities for the industry, he added.
China has the world's largest textile and clothing industry, with the export volume rising by an annual average of 16.8 percent from 1970 to 1999.
