China's Most Powerful Inner-Combustion Locomotives

China's two most powerful inner-combustion locomotives have been manufactured by the Dalian

Locomotives and Trains Factory in northeast China's port city of Dalian.

The two engines, each with a power of 3,820 kW, are for passenger and cargo transport. The driving facilities are jointly developed by the factory and a U.S. research institute.

The highest speed of the locomotive for drawing passenger trains can reach 180 km per hour, while the engine for cargo transport can pull a maximum load of 5,000 tons.
