On behalf of the Ministry of Education, the Chinese embassy in Cameroon turned over Yaounde Microorganism Laboratory on the campus of the city's No.1 University to the Cameroon government Monday.
Yaounde Microorganism Laboratory is a 9-year cooperative project undertaken by Zhejiang University in helping developing higher education in Cameroon. Operating with a full array of advanced equipment, the laboratory has turned out many technical experts to have greatly pushed Cameroon's research in basic sciences and applied technology.
In the past nine years, 12 professors and associate professors have been sent from China to work in the lab, in addition to 45 master or doctor candidates enrolled to study and work in the lab. Acting on the demand to develop Cameroon's economy and make most of equipment of the lab, research work under the instruction of Chinese teachers has been carried out by Cameroon students in many fields and these have positively promoted that host country's economic construction.
