More New Firms Set Up in Macao in Second Quarter

A total of 163 new companies were established in China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) in the second quarter of this year, 21.6 percent more than the same period of last year, official statistics show.

Figures released Thursday by the Statistics and Census Services of the Macao SAR government show that the new companies involved a total capital volume of 40 million patacas (5 million US dollars)

Among the new businesses, 82 firms deal in wholesale and retail sales, 16 are engaged in real estate and 13 firms are involved in consultation services.

In the three months, 34 companies were closed, 14 of which dealt in wholesale and retail sales.

In the first quarter of this year, 161 new companies were set up and 29 were closed.
