North China Port City Cooperates with Japan

North China's port city of Tianjin signed an memo on enhancing economic and trade links with Japan at the end of a three-day workshop on August 2.

The Sino-Japanese study workshop in Tianjin was attended by officials from the municipal government of Tianjin and leaders of the Japan Tianjin Research Society.

The annual meeting first met in 1998. The two sides discussed such issued as strengthening cooperation after China joins the WTO, environmental protection and logistics.

The Japanese side agreed to provide consultation about Tianjin' s reform and opening-up and support personnel training in the city.

The Japanese side also agreed to support Tianjin's efforts to develop its coastal zone, build a logistics center and establish an environmental protection industry zone.
