East China Province Helps Returned Students Start Business

East China's Jiangsu Province, which ranks second in the country in terms of GDP, has attracted a growing number of Chinese students that have studied in foreign countries.

The province's six development zones for returned students to start their businesses have accommodated 146 start-ups.

Statistics show these businesses, mostly engaged in high-tech industries, have generated more than 100 million yuan (about 12 million US dollars) in profits.

Local experts attributed the achievements to an improving business environment in these zones. Over the past several years the province has spent millions of dollars on infrastructure in the zones.

Preferential policies, including tax breaks, easy loans and low rents, have been adopted to draw more students studying abroad.

A special system has also been set up to provide law, consulting, information and other services to returned students.
