Masterpieces of Prominent Chinese Dramatist to Be Restaged
The Beijing People's Art Theater will restage the masterpieces of Cao Yu (1910-1996) from mid-August to early October to mark the 90th birthday of the late Chinese dramatist and founder of the theater, the Beijing Daily reported Thursday.
Three classics will be restaged -- "Thunderstorm", "Sunrise" and "Wilderness", which were written half a century ago and have been performed many times.
The dramas will be performed in turn at the Capital Theater and Beijing People's Art Theater.
Cao Yu, one of the founders of China's modern drama and winner of the "French Legion d'Honneur", died in 1996.
