Industrial Pollution on Decrease in Guangxi

About 7,000 enterprises have basically settled pollution problems in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

In recent years, local governments at all levels in Guangxi set targets for the reduction of industrial pollution in accordance with the State Council's regulations and industrial policies.

Environmental protection is high on the agenda of local governments, local government officials said.

Some 400 heavily polluting enterprises which are unable to meet the environmental protection standards have been shut down in the cities of Nanning, Guilin, Liuzhou and Yulin.

The municipal government of Guilin, a world-famous tourism resort on the Lijiang River, took measures to stop waste water from flowing into the river, thus substantially improving the river's water quality.
