New Wuhan University Set up
New Wuhan University was set up August 2 by merging four local universities.
The goal of the new university is to build itself into a world-renowned university at a higher level. The newly established university consists of 117 specialties for undergraduate, 185 specialties for master's degree and 77 for doctoral degree. In addition, it also provides 11 floating centers for post-doctors, including 11 national key disciplines, five national key labs and two national engineering technology research centers. The university has nearly 3000 professors and associate professors including 300 PHD supervisors and five academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences, five academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering and two academicians of Euro-Asian Academy of Sciences. There are 40,000 students on campus and 6000 postgraduates in the university.
Representatives or congratulation letters were sent to the new university from more than 30 world well-known universities including Harvard and Kyoto Universities.
