Chongqing Allowed Issue Visas

Chongqing in southwest China has became the first city in west China that is authorized to issue visas to overseas travelers Tuesday.

From now on, overseas visitors flying into the city can obtain visas directly from local visa department of public security bureau at the Jiangbei International Airport in the city. They will no longer have to travel to other cities for a visa.

Most of the 20 cities that are authorized to issue visas for overseas visitors are located in eastern and coastal areas of China.

The move authorize Chongqing to issue visas aims at attracting more overseas visitors to the city and facilitate the Chinese government's drive to develop China's western regions.

Chongqing has connecting flights with Japan, Thailand, Germany, Korea and many other foreign countries.
