Internet Surfers in Shenzhen Earn Most: Survey

Internet surfers in the southern coastal city of Shenzhen earn the most among their Chinese peers, according to a recent online survey on income.

The average after-tax income of the Shenzhen residents is 52, 494 yuan a year, which is followed by the cities of Shanghai, Zhuhai, Beijing and Guangzhou, whose Internet surfers earn more than 40,000 yuan, according to Wednesday's Guangming Daily.

The survey was conducted by ChinaHR.com, a website in Beijing.

Nearly 47,000 respondents from more than 40 Chinese cities and regions provided their income information.

It found that computer-related jobs provided the most attractive salaries, about 44,102 yuan per year. Lawyers and accountants were also well-paid, with a yearly average income of 42,995 yuan.

Secretaries and administrative assistants earn much less, with about 26,017 yuan per year; while project managers usually make 53, 573 yuan a year, a group with the highest income.

Only about 1.4 percent of the respondents said they were highly satisfied with their income, and 52.9 per cent said they were not satisfied.
