Guangdong Invests 250M Yuan for Telephone Service in Each Village
Guangdong Telecommunication Department plans to allocate 250 million yuan to make telephone service available in every administrative village of this province in one hundred days.
The said department has, in the past decade, made an average annual investment of 2.8 billion yuan to guarantee funds needed for construction of rural telephone service. The special fund alone for making telephone service available in each of the province's village thus far has exceeded 600 million yuan.
However, due to uneven economic development in various localities in Guangdong Province, among the province's 22,000 administrative villages, 638 have not been provided with telephone service.
