Education, Housing and Car: Three Hot Spots in ShenzhenReceiving further education, buying houses and cars have become the most popular trends in Shenzhen residents' consumption list, according to a latest report released from Shenzhen, one of the five Special Economic Zones in South China.This showed that Shenzhenese's consumption pattern is changing to enjoyment type from the previous better-off mode, closer to the life pattern in some developed countries, the report said. The report noted that in the first half year, Shenzhen people's average spending on education reaches 445.59 yuan (US$53.69), a 8.7 per cent increase over the year-earlier period. Currently, more than 500,000 local citizens are attending various kinds of self-taught examination training classes, which usually cost them 700 to 800 yuan per person, and adult colleges, in order to better equip themselves in cut-throat competition, the report said. Meanwhile, Shenzhen residents' average housing cost reaches 946.74 yuan (US$114.5), a 14 per cent rise over the same period last year. Shenzhenese now pursues a better-quality life under the attraction of nice-surrounding, good-looking buildings and preferential housing loans from banks. Last year, they spent more than two billion yuan (US$240 million) in interior decorations, with the figure expected to surpass three billion yuan (US$361 million) this year. The report also said that buying a car is the third most important thing for Shenzhen residents, who witnessed a 60 per cent jump in car numbers over the first half of last year. So far, Shenzhen has more than 400,000 cars, with an increase of 4,000 vehicles per month. |
