Beijing University of Chinese Medicine EstablishedNew Beijing University of Chinese Medicine was set up on Monday by merging with Beijing College of Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Bone Fracture with approval of the Ministry of Education (MOE). The new university will be under the administration of the MOE. The set-up of the new university was inaugurated yesterday.Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (formerly known as Beijing College of Chinese Traditional Medicine) was founded in 1956, which used to be under the direct administration of the State Administration of Chinese Traditional Medicine. It is one of the earliest institutes of higher learning for Chinese traditional medicine and also the only college of Chinese traditional medicine to be included in the "211 Project". The Beijing Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Bone Fracture College was set up in 1986. It is an institute of Chinese traditional medicine with very distinct specialties. The newly founded university has nearly 5000 students on campus. Number of students from overseas come to more than 540, and 2 600 are teaching staffs. Zheng Yinliang is the secretary of the University Party Committee and Zheng Shouzeng the president. |
