At 1:30 am on Saturday night, 21-year-old Wu Jun and his classmate Cao Jie was walking toward the conjunction of Huanghe Road and Jiujiang Road when they suddenly heard someone crying for help. Then they saw a man robbing a handbag of a female tourist. The two students immediately ran up and fought with the robber, who wounded Wu with a knife. Wu fell to the ground while Cao continued to chase after the man. With the help of two taxi drivers and a gate guard of a nearby club, Cao finally seized the robber.

Wu was later sent to a nearby hospital by a passing taxi. Doctors said Wu had got two deep wounds, one was 3 centimeters long and 5 center meters deep and the other is 2 centimeters long and 2 centimeters deep. He bled a lot, but now has recovered from shock.

Wu is a student from Shanghai Engineering Technology College and is now studying at Sichuan-based Civil Aviation College. He is supposed to be a pilot next year.

"Wu did what he was supposed to do. I feel proud for my son," said Wu's mother, adding that she was worried about when he could come back to school.

The robber was later identified as Sun Libin, who came from Jilin Province. The bag he tried to rob contains RMB3,000 and two mobile phones.
