Non-Staple Food Fair Scheduled in Hunan

Central China's Hunan Province will host a sugar, alcoholic drinks and non-staple food fair in Changde City to the west of Dongting Lake from September 16 to 18.

An official from the organizing committee said that the fair is a regional event with approval from the State Administration of Internal Trade.

A total of 5,000 letters of invitation have been sent out and more than 400 businesses have replied to attend the fair, said the official.

Other preparations for the fair have been proceeding smoothly. The exhibition hall, with an investment of over 200 million yuan, is expected to be completed and be ready for service by mid-August.

In addition to transaction of commodities, other activities like trade talks and sight-seeing activities will also be held during the fair.

The official hoped that the fair would not only increase economic exchanges between eastern and western regions of China, help further open up western China, but also help central and west Chinese regions to export more.
