Engineering Month Launched in HK

Engineering Month, jointly organized by the Hong Kong Science Museum of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, kicked off Monday.

Through a series of activities running through August, the Engineering Month will provide a comprehensive introduction on engineering work and engineers' contributions.

The distinctive features of the Engineering Month lie in diversification and daily-life-like, said Deputy Director of the Leisure and Cultural Services Choi Shuk-kuen at the opening ceremony.

She said the Engineering Month, with the contents mainly based on the basic science knowledge of the general public and examples taken from our everyday life, aimed to provide more opportunities for the general public to take part in exploring engineering science.

The programs of the Engineering Month include popular engineering talks, engineering tours and "Engineering Made Simple" special exhibition.

Among all the programs, the "Election of the 10 Engineering Wonders in Hong Kong" will be the highlight. The public will elect 10 favorite engineering projects from 21 items including the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center Extension, Hong Kong Stadium, Kwai Chung Container Port, MTR System and Peak Tower.
