Kim Dae-jung Meets DPRK Delegates at Chongwadae Monday

ROK President Kim Dae-jung invited the DPRK delegation to the inter-Korean ministerial talks to Chongwadae Monday morning.

Kim praised the inter-Korean negotiators for reaching an agreement on continued ministerial talks, reopening of liaison offices at Panmunjom and reconnecting the Seoul-Shinuiju railway, Chongwadae spokesman Park Joon-young said.

"The two Koreas should join hands to realize peaceful co-existence and unification of the Korean Peninsula in the 21st century," he said.

In response, Jon Kum-jin, head of the DPRK delegation, said the two sides could agree on a larger number of items than expected according to the spirit of the June South-North Joint Declaration and the will of the two Korean leaders, expressing satisfaction with the agreement.

During the meeting, President Kim asked Jon to deliver his best regards to North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, to which Jon promised to do without fail.

In the meeting, the South Korean delegation led by Unification Minister Park Jae-kyu also participated.
