Top University Recruits Harassed by MediaQuan Jing, who got the highest marks in a liberal arts entrance exam in Beijing, has answered dozens of calls daily from local newspapers and TV stations since her name was made public a week ago.Her former headmaster from the Beijing No. 80 High School has asked for help from the local education bureau to stop the media hounding China's Number One Student, according to today's Workers' Daily. The excitement of being top students and being able to enter China's elite universities soon melted away when Quan Jing and other top students around the country were endless harassed by the media. Family members have not been spared either. In southwest Sichuan Province, top liberal arts and science students have been dubbed "Sister Flowers" by the media. Two big companies in the capital city of Chengdu offered 100,000 yuan (12, 000 U.S. dollars) as "image" representatives. The two students said last Friday that they were only students and did not want to be harassed by the media.
