China Discovers Gold Coin Of East Roman EmpireA golden coin believed to belong to East Roman period was recently discovered in a Chinese village by farmers.The village is in the Nanjiao township, Guyuan county of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. A fragmented stoneware pot was also excavated. The coin is 17.7 mm in diameter, 0.54 mm in thickness and 3.1 gram in weight, said experts. Guyuan county used to be an important pass on the Silk Road which linked the West to the East in ancient times. In 1978, China discovered a similar coin in Cixian County in north China's Hebei province.
