Psychological Education of College Students Highlighted in Henan

Psychological health of university students is receiving greater attention from educators in central China's Henan Province.

A recent survey in Henan showed that more than 70 percent of the students in institutions of higher learning in the province have some psychological problems. About three to five percent of the university students have serious psychological problems.

According to the survey, academic study, love affairs, and relationship with other people can cause psychological problems. Worry, fear and low self-esteem severely affected the physical and psychological health of the students and resulted in campus crimes and suicides.

To cope with the worsening problem, about 52 institutions of higher learning in the province have set up psychological counseling centers. Symposiums have been held on a regular basis to better guide university students.
