Hu, Kazakh President Meet on Boosting Bilateral Ties
Visiting Chinese Vice-president Hu Jintao met with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev in Astana Friday afternoon, voicing readiness to promote bilateral relations in all fields and to make contributions to safeguarding peace and stability in the region.

Hu said that the past eight years have seen smooth growth of bilateral ties between China and Kazakhstan, with frequent exchange of high-level visits, and deepened contacts and cooperation in various fields.

The settlement of the border issue, one of the major events in the history of Sino-Kazakh ties, not only helps build mutual trust between the two countries, but also maintain peace and stability in the region.

During the meeting, Nazarbayev expressed satisfaction with the development of the relations between the two countries, noting that Kazakhstan is eager to enhance cooperation with China in all spheres.

He stressed that there are great prospects for the two countries in expanding cooperation in economic, trade, scientific, cultural, educational and other fields.

Hu arrived here earlier Friday afternoon from Astana, the new capital of Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is the last leg of his current five-nation tour.
