China Takes Active Part in Globalization Process: Tang

China has adopted the right principles and policies, and has taken an active part in the globalization process, said Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan Friday at the meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its 10 dialogue partners (ASEAN+10) in Bangkok.

As a result, in a short span of just two decades, China has scored tremendous achievements in its socialist modernization drive and made historical progress in lifting its people from poverty and ensuring them a more comfortable life, he said.

Currently, Tang said, China's economic development has entered a critical stage of shifting the growth mode and improving the quality and efficiency of growth.

China will make strategic readjustment of the economic structure, vigorously develop new and high technologies and high-tech industries, build an information-based national economy, continue to deepen the reform of the economic system, further implement the strategy of revitalizing the country through science and technology, the Chinese foreign minister noted.

In addition, he said, China will speed up its all-directional opening-up endeavor, and take part in the process of economic globalization in a wider spectrum of areas.

In the globalization process, which Tang said has both advantages and disadvantages for his country, China will carefully and properly handle three sets of relationships: firstly, the relationship between participation in the globalization process and independent development, secondly, the relationship between participation in the process and maintenance of national interests, and thirdly, the relationship between participation in the process and safeguarding China's economic security.

In short, Tang told his counterparts from the ASEAN+10 that China stands "ready to work with the people of other Asian countries to meet the challenges of globalization and constantly advance the development, progress and civilization of humanity."
