Non-Communist Parties' Delegation Visits Qinghai

A delegation of leaders of China's top legislature, non-communist parties and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), as well as public figures without party affiliation, visited northwest China's Qinghai Province as part of the efforts for implementing the country's strategy to develop the western region.

The eight-day trip gave the delegation the chance for an up-close look at Qinghai's progress in environmental protection, infrastructure facility construction, resource development and industrial structural readjustment.

The delegation was led by Jiang Zhenghua, a vice-chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee and chairman of the Central Committee of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party.

In talks with local officials this morning, Jiang said non-communist parties, ACFIC and non-party-affiliated figures are firmly behind the central leadership's decision to develop the economically-backward western areas.

The members of the delegation offered suggestions for development in the province.

Jiang also delivered a report on economic growth and sustainable development during the trip. The Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party donated 500,000 yuan-worth of medicine and medical equipment to the province.
