McDonald's Opens First Restaurant in Most Populated Chinese Province

McDonald's, world's fast food giant from the United States, opened its first chain store in China's most populated province of Henan Friday.

The chain store is located at Friendship Square at Zhengzhou, capital city of the province. The newly opened fastfood restaurant open to crowds of people.

China was a key market for McDonald's in 2000, said an official with the McDonald's (China) Co. Ltd. Henan Province has a population of 93 million.

McDonald's plans to make Henan Province a center for expanding business to China's northwest and southwest markets.

McDonald's plans to open 10 chain stores in Henan Province in three years.

McDonald's has opened 25,000 restaurants in 119 countries and regions since it opened its first fastfood outlet in the United States in 1955. It has 272 restaurants in 53 cities on the Chinese mainland.
