Colombian FM to Visit China
Colombian Foreign Minister Guillermo Fernandez de Soto left Bogota Thursday for Beijing to visit China.
The Colombian minister will meet coming July 30 in China's capital his Mexican counterpart, in order to carry out together this Rio Group troika visit, due to 10th anniversary of the dialog system between the largest Latin American and Chinese political concertation group.
Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan will also meet his counterparts from Mexico, Colombia and Chile to evaluate advances obtained in the last 10 years in rapprochement and mutual support between the parties and analyze how to tighten even further future links.
Besides, according to the same source, the heads of Chinese and Colombian diplomacy will cover matters regarding bilateral relations, the Andean Community and Colombia's security system, among others.
This is the first visit to China of the troika group, made up by Colombia, Mexico and Chile. Rio Group was created in December 1986 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, formed by Contadora Group and Lima Group.
In year 2000, Colombia assumes the rotating Secretariat of Rio Group.
