Japan Donates to Schools in S.W. China's Guizhou Province

Japan's Grassroots Ground Aid donated some 740,000 yuan to primary schools in four impoverished villages in Ziyun County of Southwest China's Guizhou Province Thursday.

As many as 1,200 children, more than half of whom have been studying in run down houses, will benefit from the program.

Ziyun County, with ethnic minority people making up most of the population, desperately needs funding to develop its education programs because of the underdeveloped economy.

Japan's Grassroots Ground Aid, which has been cooperating with China for more than ten years, grants free aid and support for selected programs in the fields of culture, education, and health protection to underdeveloped countries and regions.
