IBM, Top Chinese Universities Launch Research Body
The global computer giant IBM and China's elite Qinghua University and Beijing University jointly established a research institute early this month.
IBM will provide equipment, researchers and most of the operating expenses, while the Chinese partners will be responsible for office buildings, labs, teachers and students.
A special committee composed of people from the both sides has been formed to manage the institute, which will mainly focus on e- business. The administration of the institute will be handled by the two schools.
The two sides will share the intellectual property rights of the achievements.
"It's a good opportunity for us to cooperate with the well- known international company," said Gong Ke, vice-president of Qinghua.
