Mental Disorders Hotbed for "Falun Gong": Expert

Stress, nervousness, anxiety and mental disorder have provided a hotbed the "Falun Gong" cult in China.

Wang Qingren, a professor with the Central University for Nationalities, made the remarks today during an exclusive interview with Xinhua.

Accustomed to the cradle-to-grave employment, many people found it hard to adapt themselves quickly to the increased pressure and intensified competition of modern life, Wang said.

Dazzled by the self-claimed "Savior" Li Hongzhi, people turned to him for guidance to regain their inner balance and stability, Wang said.

Seeking help from Falun Gong rather than a professional psychiatrist reveals that many people are suffering from various kinds of mental disorders, said Wang.
