Chinese social scientists recently established a nationwide sex education center in Beijing, providing Chinese minors with information about the dangers of drugs, sexually-transmitted diseases, AIDS and unexpected pregnancy.
Chen Yiyun, professor with the Institute of Sociology under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Hu Peicheng, secretary- general of China Sexology Society, organized a group of social scientists, educationalists, law experts and medical workers to provide consultation to minors.
The center has a magazine, a hot-line, a school for parents and other facilities and is preparing textbooks for sex education in middle schools.
The center plans to carry out various kinds of academic symposiums on sex education.
