China Vying for Internatinal Engineering Contracting Markets
China has made great headway in expanding presence in the international engineering contracting markets and was listed among the top ten engineering contractors in the world, according to Thursday's China Construction News.
The newspaper said that China undertook a large number of construction projects in various countries and regions worldwide in 1999, with contract volume and business turnover hitting 13 billion US dollars and 11.23 billion US dollars, respectively.
Over the past 20 years, China's cumulative overseas engineering contract volume and business turnover amounted to 96.469 billion US dollars and 60.6 billion US dollars, respectively, with the annual increase rate hitting 31.1 percent and 23.3 percent.
