Chinese Leader Meets Belarusian PM, SpeakersChinese Vice-President Hu Jintao met with Belarusian Prime Minister Vladimir Yermoshin and parliament speakers Pavel Shipuk and Anatoly Malofeyev here Wednesday to discuss how to further the friendly and cooperative relations between the two nations.During his meeting with Yermoshin, Hu said that China and Belarus face both opportunities and challenges now, and stressed that to consolidate and strengthen the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries conforms to the fundamental interests of the two nations and contributes to peace, stability and prosperity in the world. Yermoshin said, in his turn, that Belarus and China have all the conditions to develop bilateral friendly and cooperative relations, particularly in the economic sphere. He stressed that the two sides should make joint efforts to meet the opportunities and challenges in the upcoming new century. During the meeting with Shipuk, speaker of the House of Republics (upper chamber), and Malofeyev, speaker of the House of Representatives (lower chamber), the Chinese vice-president noted that the parliament contacts remains a main part of the two countries' bilateral relations and a main way for the two nations in promoting friendship and expanding cooperation. The two speakers expressed their willingness to make efforts to enhance contacts between the two countries' parliaments and to make contribution to the two nations' friendly and cooperative relations in the future. Hu, who arrived here Tuesday night for a three-day official visit, is scheduled to leave here for Kazakhstan to continue his five-nation tour. Belarus is the fourth leg of his current Asia-Europe visit. He had already visited Myanmar, Thailand and Indonesia.
