Jordanian Speaker Leaves For Visit to China

Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives Abdu Hadi Majali left here Wednesday on a seven-day official visit to China at the invitation of Li Peng, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China.

Before his departure, Majali told reporters he will hold talks with Li Peng on the friendly cooperation between the two countries, particularly the role that the two legislatures can play in promoting bilateral ties in all fields.

Heading a 18-member delegation, Majali will visit Beijing, Shanghai and Xin Jiang Autonomous Region during his week-long trip to China.

Majali expressed satisfaction over the smooth development of ties between Jordan and China in recent years, adding the two countries can further consolidate cooperation in trade and investment.

He also commended China for an increasingly important role in international affairs, particularly its support for the course of the Palestinians in the Middle East process.
