Six Jailed for Transporting Fake MoneyA Chinese court has punished six people for transporting counterfeit money, giving them prison terms from two to ten years.The Hangzhou Railway Transportation Court in eastern Zhejiang Province has sentenced Wu Zhiming and Yu Hangjun to 10 years in prison, and confiscated property worth 10,000 yuan, respectively. Court records said the two bought fake bills with a face value of 108,620 yuan (about 13,000 U.S. dollars) in Wengan County, southern Guizhou Province, and boarded a train bound for Hangzhou, capital city of Zhejiang Province, on April 14 this year. They were detained by the police soon after the train left Guiyang, the provincial capital of Guizhou. In another case, Guo Youjiang and Cao Zhengnian purchased fake money with a face value of 23,350 yuan in Pingba county, also in Guizhou, and were caught by police at a railway station on the Guiyang-Shanghai line. The court sentenced Guo to four years in prison and fined him 50,000 yuan, and sentenced Cao to two-year imprisonment with a fine of 20,000 yuan. In addition, the court sentenced Tang Nengjian to three and a half years in prison and fined him 50,000 yuan for transporting fake money with a face value of 20,255 yuan. He Kechun was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 50, 000 yuan for transporting 15,300 yuan of fake bills. |
