College Students Busy During VacationDuring their two-month summer vacation, many Chinese college students are swarming to cram courses for GRE, TOEFL, or graduate entrance exams.Meanwhile, freshmen and sophomores are braving sweltering weather to prepare upcoming English proficiency tests in the next semester. Students from Guangdong, Guizhou, Yunnan and Qinghai are also in Beijing to attend courses at prestigious universities, Guangming Daily reported Wednesday. The New Oriental School, a privately owned school which prepares Chinese students with foreign proficiency tests is always crowded, especially during vacation. Some students majoring in computer sciences have tried to find part-time jobs in dot-com companies, which usually pay 2,000 (241 U.S. dollars) to 3,000 yuan a month. Some universities organize summer camps in poverty-stricken provinces. College students are paying greater attention to their future careers and opportunities to study abroad.
