Shanghai Says Good-Bye to Outdoor Farmer's Markets

All the 108 outdoor farmer's markets in Shanghai downtown have been moved into various halls and houses, an official source said.

The outdoor markets were believed to have badly affected the environment and traffic.

"I am satisfied with the efforts. Now our neighborhood looks more clean and traffic condition have improved," said a Shanghai resident.

Another 100 outdoor farmer's markets outside the downtown areas will also be demolished and moved into houses, the source said.
