More than 60 lawyers from over 20 provinces and cities in China have joined a cooperative network to provide juveniles with legal aid services.
The cooperative network is expected to play an important role in legal services for juveniles, said Zhang Liqun, head of the Chinese Society for Research on Juvenile Delinquency (CSRJD).
China has nearly 400 million juveniles. The lawyers cooperative network would provide them with services by making full use of the lawyers across the country.
A website, www.kidsandlaw.com, was also launched in Beijing this month to offer free legal aid services to juveniles. CSRJD, the sponsor, will send out lawyers to deal with some cases reported via the website.
